“Mr. Creole”
Song by Ray Charles
Renald Richards’ gorgeous “Mr. Creole” was performed by Ray Charles on the final album released in Ray’s lifetime, the 2002 CD-only Thanks For Bringing Love Around Again. Ray was bringing Renald around again, too; Richards had co-written the legendary hit “I’ve Got A Woman” with Ray way back in 1954.
“Mr. Creole” tells the story of a man in New Orleans who represents human kindness. The lyrics describe different ways that Mr. Creole visits us – when a neighbor invites us over for a chat, for instance. Would that we could all notice the Mr. Creoles in our own lives more.
