“After My Laughter Came Tears”
Song by Ray Charles
Ray Charles takes the old jazz tune “After My Laughter Came Tears” and gives it a country feel not present on the 1927 original. “After My Laughter Came Tears” can be found on his weepy 1964 LP Sweet And Sour Tears. Given the emotional riches-to-rags story evident in its very title, it was pretty clever of Ray to countrify it up a little: that’s a sentiment right up Nashville’s alley.
